AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is an attacker and captain for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) the top division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 until 2020. After graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. The team made her debut in professional football and played in the team's win of the league title. Morgan was just 22 when she was chosen to be part of the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, where they finished in second place. In the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final clash against Canada. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. She was the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to achieve 20 goals in one season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments as well as winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
